How to reduce cos^2(x)sin^4(x) using the formulas for lowering powers to reduce to the first power of cosine, if sin^2(x)=1-cos2x/2 and cos^2x=1+cos2x/2?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

cos^(x)sin^4(x) what power is cosine supposed to be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2

zepdrix (zepdrix):

So umm... we need our final answer to be in terms of ALL first power trig functions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, so far i have 1/8(1-cos2x-cos^2(2x)+cos^3(2x)), but for cos^3(2x)=cos(2x)cos^2(2x)
