US HISTORY/ GOVERMENT :Can members of congress or of federal officials be denied a government position based on their religion? why or why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, it is a freedom of speech. Also, when the America's were founded, all of the people were seeking freedom of religion. If the government denied a person because of their religion, there would be a very big political debate. Also, there would be many arguments going around about why or why not he/she should be let in!
