Why should The Hobbit be valued as literature?
That's a real question a teacher asked?
'Cause technically a grocery list is literature.
Anyway, I'm not sure I understand the question.
@DonaldRoyMiller but is it good literature though?
I think so. It is written by Tolkien. He wrote The Lord of the Rings. Led Zeppelin wrote several songs about it. It was very big in the sixties. Well, 2000s also cause of the movies.
but WHY? @DonaldRoyMiller
Didn't your teacher go over what literature is with you? I'll help. But it sounds like he/she didn't give you much to go by.
What grade are you in?
You still interested? If not, I guess I ought to be moving on.
dude im in high school @DonaldRoyMiller
Okay.
I don't know what I can do to help you. I take it you haven't read the book and know very little about it.
IF you HAD read it we could dicuss the different things about it that we liked and why we think the make it good literature. But forget the Hobbit for now. Have you read books that you thought were good?
i have read the book though @DonaldRoyMiller
i'm already doing another essay on it @DonaldRoyMiller
What was the thing that you liked most about it? I know what I liked best.
@Seperio I hate the book "The Hobbit."
@Sepeario
Keyword 'valued'. But idk I never read it :p I only read non-fiction and classics.
@Sepeario, you don't have to tag people in every single reply. I'm only doing this because of the other people who replied, so as to avoid confusion. "The Hobbit" is definitely good literature, it teaches you a lot about morals and how to live life. Plus, its grammar and wording are a huge benefit if you can understand the methods used.
