Hi all! Wanted to check my answer. If I evaluate (x^2 -2)/(2x+1) what is the most simplified result?

hartnn (hartnn):

evalute that at what ? or just simplify ? whats the original question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just to differentiate. I have (4x^2 +2x-2x^2 +4)/(2x+1)^2

hartnn (hartnn):

yes, correct, now simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oof

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the denominator would be 4x^2 +4x+1

hartnn (hartnn):

keep the denominator as (2x+1)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aha ok

hartnn (hartnn):

just simplify numerator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then I get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x-2x^2 +4 / 2x+1

hartnn (hartnn):

4x^2 +2x-2x^2 +4 2x^2 +2x+4 = 2(x^2+x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm

hartnn (hartnn):

so whats your doubt ? 2(x^2+x+2) / (2x+1)^2 is most simplified form.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have been doing math for the last 4-5 hours, I'm just processing :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah, got it finally! Thanks a lot again :)

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, welcome ^_^
