I say no because of x^2

To be one-to-one, it has to pass a horizontal line teat. If you graph it, you should NOT be able to draw a horizontal line that crosses it in 2 places. Your function is a parabola. Parabolas are never one to one since you can always draw a horizontal line that goes through it in 2 placed. Eg.
