Although slaves had no choice but to work, slave labor was often not efficient. Why? Slaves did not have the language skills, strength, or endurance of free workers, so they could not perform their duties as well. Slaves were rarely rewarded for doing good work. Their only incentive was to escape punishment, so they had no reason to do their best. Slaves were paid, but their wages were less than those of their free counterparts. This led slave laborers to do work that was of lower quality.
Only A or B make sense to me.
B) Slaves were rarely rewarded for doing good work. Their only incentive was to escape punishment, so they had no reason to do their best. You are right, I don't get why they even have C XD
Thanks. :) Do you perhaps have an explanation?
Well... When i'm not rewarded, why in the world would I want to do my best? And I would always try to escape what I had to do, unless I got something out of it. Also, the slaves DID have strength, and probably more endurance than the free worker, if you think about it!
Ok thanks.
Anytime!
But if they weren't fed well or anything how are they stronger?
They were fed, but not much, but with the labor they did, they ate whatever they could, also, with what they were doing, with the labor, the strength came in time, along with the endurance. Their bodily functions were not normal, because they worked so much, and had a very bad diet, their bodies changed to fit their actions
But it all came in time, it didn't just happen
