How do I solve this system of linear equation using the substitution method? 4x-12y=15 x-3y=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pick one of the equations to simplify for these its easiest to make x-3y=4 and say x=4+3y and sub that into the x of the other equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if your equations are written correctly, what rubymonkey16 said should work, but when I tried it, it was failing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, that's exactly what I did and I was failing, too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could the answer just be that there is no solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, that's probably why I've been struggling. Thanks. :)
