the two sides of a triangle are 17 cm and 28 m long and the length of the median drawn to the third side is equal to 19.5 cm. find the distance from and endpoint of its median to the longest side
please help..
Is there a diagram that was given with this problem?
none sir
Would you check and see if the posted question exactly matches what you were given? Thanks.
the given is 17 cm and 28 cm.. my mistake
See if you think this diagram matches what the problem says:
This phrase does not sound quite right. What should come after the "and" --> " from *and* endpoint of its median to the longest side"
The two sides of a triangle are 17 cm and 28 cm long, and the length of the median drawn to the third side is equal to 19.5 cm. Find the distance from an endpoint of this median to the longest side.
Here is something we know although I don't yet see how it helps. SSS Inequality Theorem If two sides of one triangle are congruent to two sides of another triangle, but the third side of the first triangle is longer than the third side of the second, then the included angle of the first triangle is larger than the included angle of the second.
how di you get 21?
Those are angles, <1 and <2.
I don't know which side of the given triangle is the longest side. So, I will continue to think about this problem. Perhaps someone who has more insight will come along to help. We won't give up.

i dont think the triangles are similar
the third side is 25
@klionmaster10 >>>> the third side is 25 How do you know? Please post your work.
Yes please.. post your solution
i think the problem is this : |dw:1382953907135:dw| and we need to find y
