Can somebody show me the steps to finding n in this problem? 5n + 6 = -4

OpenStudy (austinl):

We would need to get the term with the variable by itself, how do you think we would do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Subtract 4 from 5?

OpenStudy (austinl):

No, we would want to subtract 6 from both sides, what would that look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH OKAY, my brain must have stopped working, I think I know how to do this now haha!! it would be 5n = -10

OpenStudy (austinl):

Correct! And to cancel out a multiplication what do we do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide 5 from both sides! so it would be n = -2

OpenStudy (austinl):

Correctomundo! Good job!

Thank you so much!! :))
