In eukaryotes, gene regulation occurs at the level of transcription with the help of certain regulatory proteins. Which proteins encourage binding of the RNA polymerase to the promoter?Select one of the options below as your answer: A. Activator B. Enhancer C. Silencer

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

what do u think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't really know.. I'm stuck between a and c?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

according to the meaning of the word silencer means it silences the gene....so that means no binding of rna pol..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So.. Really, my only choices are a and b?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

activator is required to start the transcription process....widout it no mRNA produced. but enhancers just increase the gene expression. they are not necessary for the mRNA to be produced.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it's activator?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you very much!

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

happy 2 help:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is A
