Explain why you think it was important for the Pilgrims to write the Mayflower Compact

Of course, I cannot tell you what your opinion should be, but I can tell you in my own words what the significance of the compact was? Please don't copy my answer word for word for your assignment.

Anyway, the Mayflower Compact pretty much outlined the ideas for a new, civilian controlled government government; essentially, it was the beginning of democracy in America. However, it also pledged the newly settled land to the King of England, which obviously didn't turn out well in the long run(;
