2x+2x+4x+4x=144 whats the value of x?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

add the x s, and divide both sides by 12.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

12x=144 12x/12=144/12 OK?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add the like terms which gives you 12 then divide it by 144 which gives you 12. So x=12. Plug it in to make sure it equals 144.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

@Greenpride, i know what you meant, but divide by 144 means 12/144 not 144/12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you for pointing out my mistake. And yes it is 144/12
