order of operations PEMDAS Parentheses Exponents Multiply/Divide Add/Subtract so 4*(32 - 2) + 12/4*3 subtract within the parenthesis first = 4* (30) + 12 / 4 * 3 now multiply left to right 120 + 12 / 4 * 3 don't add yet 120 + 3 * 3 120 + 9 and simplify more to get your answer :)
