how do you solve this system of equations using substitution x+2y=-1 and 2x-y=4. Put your answer in (x,y) form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x + 2y = -1 ==> x = -2y - 1 now sub -2y - 1 in for x in the other equation and solve for y. Once y is found, sub that back into either equation and solve for x.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

have you tried that @madelinnsmomma2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I got it. Thank you. (:

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

ah good, you can check your values solve the original equations to be sure
