The ideal diameter of a piston for a car engine is 90.000 mm. The actual diameter can vary from the ideal by at most 0.008 mm. What is the range of acceptable diameters for the piston?

(89.992, 90.008)mm

How did you solve that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Subtract .008 from 90.000 and you get the minimum, add .008 to 90.000 and yo uget the maximum Range = (least possible, greatest possible) so = (90.000 - .008, 90.000 + .008) = (89.992, 90.008) :)
