Solve the quadratic equation. 2x^2 = 32 A. x = ±4 B. x = 2 and x = 32 C. x = 1 and x = 16 D. x = ±2

OpenStudy (austinl):

What do you think you should do first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Subtract and the divide?

OpenStudy (austinl):

Well, we need to get the variable by itself. We have, \(2\times x^2=32\) What do you do to cancel a multiplication?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know. Subtract x or 32?

OpenStudy (austinl):

x is your variable you want it on the left hand side, to cancel out a multiplication we divide. So therefore we divide both sides by 2, what do you get?
