Why did General MacArthur address Congress after he was fired? He wanted to thank Americans for treating him as a hero. He wanted to let the country know that he was going to run for president. He wanted to justify his recommendations for expanding the Korean War. He wanted to apologize to President Truman for insubordination.

Parades were held in his honor, and he was asked to speak before Congress (where he gave his famous "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away" speech)."
