Which of the following statements is true about catalysts? and Why? a. Catalysts slow down the rate of chemical reactions b. All catalysts are enzymes c. Catalysts are used up during a chemical reaction d. Catalysts lower the activation energy of a chemical reaction

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Which do you think it is? \(\sf \color{red}{HINT}\): it's not A or C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking it was b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you tell me why it would be b though?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Wrong. all known enzymes are catalysts, but not all catalysts are enzymes. This is due to the fact that enzymes are largely organic in nature and are bio-catalysts whilst non-enzymatic catalysts can b inorganic compounds

OpenStudy (abb0t):

\(D\) is your answer
