why did truman put limits on macarthur
In the Korean war when the war was close to end, Chinese forces attacked a NATO base which started a whole new issue. The US announced that peace discussion could be possible... But good ol' MacArthur rejected the idea of peace negotiations. The arrogant MacArthur had derailed the U.S. initiative by daring China to continue the war. This infuriated many high-ranking military officers (unnecessary money and lives being given up). MacArthur at this point started bringing up plans and ideas about having a nuclear warfare with China, destroy their military powers, and then invade. And this was when Truman fired good ol' MacArthur. :)
