OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):

Why is antibiotic sensitivity test perfumed

OpenStudy (kira_yamato):

In genetic engineering?

OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):

No this is microbiology

OpenStudy (kira_yamato):

It is performed to determine which antibiotic will be most successful in treating a bacterial infection in vivo.

OpenStudy (kira_yamato):

However, we do make use of this concept of antibiotic sensitivity test for genetic engineering to select for recombinant bacteria.

OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):

How to do this • How to decide if a species of bacteria is sensitive or resistant to an antibiotic.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

usually happens using gel trays that grow the bacteria and then putting small amounts of the antibiotic material on each sample and determining the effects. When the bacteria is resistant there is very little to no effect on the bacteria. If the bacteria has died off where the sample was placed it is a pretty good antibiotic for the type of bacteria.
