The pitch of a roof is the number of feet the roof rises for each 12 feet horizontally. If a roof has a pitch of 8, what is its slope expressed as a positive number? I mean I kinda get it here is my answer: 8/12=2/3 but would I cross multiply? I don't really get it can you help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why would you cross-multiply. The slope is 8/12 or 2/3.

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

And if you need the angle, look up the arc tangent of 2/3. (which happens to be 33.69° )
