2. Radio Shack sells a TV for $199.95 that costs $140.50. What was Radio Shack’s percent markup based on a selling price? (Round to nearest percent.) Check your answer (will be slightly off due to rounding.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

% Increase = (Increase / Original) * 100 In your example, what is the increase?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did as BangkokGarrett said and got an answer of 142.313 which you can round off

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea where you came up with 142.313. That is not correct. The increase = 199.95 - 140.50 = 59.45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

original = 140.50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats where I went wrong. I was feeling like I missed a step

OpenStudy (anonymous):

42.31% increase

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, i know what you did. you just did (199.95 / 140.5) x 100 You can do it that way, too if you remember to minus 100 at the end.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. but it says round to the nearest %. so 42%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep. Hope this helped :) Barbie
