In “The First Seven Years” by Bernard Malamud, think about what happens to Feld after Sobel quits. Which is the best summary of what goes wrong in Feld’s life after Sobel leaves?
Bernard Malamud's "The First Seven Years" is the story of Feld the shoemaker and his relationship with two suitors for his daughter. Feld desires a better life for his daughter and aims to find a man more suitable for her. Malamud opens the novel by introducing the main character and his interest in Max, who is dedicated to his educational studies, unlike Miriam, his daughter. Feld arranges for the both of them to go on a date. Meanwhile, Sobel, Feld's assistant, decides to quit his job, leaving Feld to run the business by himself. Sobel is a Polish refugee who is also in love with Miriam. He's upset that for many years Feld has brought suitors to Miriam but has never considered him. The relationship between Max and Miriam doesn't work out, and Feld asks Sobel to come back to work. By the end of "The First Seven Years," Sobel agrees to come back and Feld asks him to wait two more years before considering Miriam for marriage. Malamud ends the novel with Sobel working hard.
can you summarize that into one sentence? pls
Sure lol
here are the three answers
*four
Feld’s confrontation with Sobel makes him to realize he wanted the wrong things for Miriam.
1)Miriam and Max dislike each other and Feld loses his new assistant, but Feld will not rehire Sobel
2)Max and Miriam stop dating, Feld’s new assistant steals from the shop, and Feld has a heart attack
3)Miriam goes on two dates with Max, and Feld has a heart attack, but he won’t let Miriam get in touch with Sobel
4)Feld gets sick, Miriam and Max go on two bad dates, then Feld has a massive heart attack
idk which one it is
To you, Which of these answers ring a bell?
idk... lol to be honest 2 of them seem right
but I cant decide
Yes tell me which of those two are.
which of the two you think is right?
i think 2 and 4
Ok now tell me why you think 2 is almost the right one?
Honestly its because ive taken this test one time already and i answered it with four and got it wrong, but it never mentions in the story that his assistant robbed him. Then again its the only reasonable answer.
Its the only reasonable answer left because the others make no sense
hmm you are right
Have you tried answering with 3?
I think it is 3
