Vocabulary check: Define the following terms and give an example. Conditional statement Converse Bi-conditional statement Inverse Truth value Law of Detachment Law of Syllogism Find the pattern for the sequence and use it to show the next two terms. 51, 44, 37, 30… 5, 20, 80, 320… Write the statement as a conditional: Squares have four right angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which part do you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also, for logic, do you use symbols? Because sometimes that makes things easier...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or do you need, for instance, sentences that represent conditional statements?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i need sentenses peez

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you need definitions AND examples?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes ples

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have you worked with logical symbols before?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Something like: \[P \Rightarrow Q\] or \[P \Leftarrow Q\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?!?!?!?!?!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, that might look foreign now but it actually can simplify logic a lot...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And have you ever heard of a "Truth Table"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As for definitions, the best definitions are probably contained in whatever textbook you're using.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But I can try to give you some intuition...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, a Conditional statement: That's of the form "If ..., Then ... "

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So a conditional statement is something like: If A, Then B Now, the converse of that previous statement is: If B, Then A The Biconditional statement then combines both of these statements: "A if and only if B"
