In an effort to decrease the nation's dependency on the oil industry, the government of Oman has passed several economic development policies. The policies call for the development of non-oil industries such as mining, fishing, and agriculture. The purpose behind these policies is to develop a wide range of industries, which will be able to sustain the nation's economy when its oil reserves are gone. Which of these is a reason why Oman would want to expand its non-oil economy? Oil is a resource that cannot be replaced. Oman lacks the technology to extract oil. Oman does not have a large supply of oil. The other resources are more profitable.
