I assume that the question is asking you to solve for x. -8x - 2+-2(x-2) | The part in the parenthesis are "stuck". Use the distributive property to get them out. Basically, take the -2, and multiply that by x and 2. -8x - 2+-2x - -4 | Combine like terms, -8x and -2x. - -2x - -2x -6x - 2 + -4 | Now undo the rest. -6x - -2 | I'm pretty sure this is as far as you can go.
