4(2x+1) multiple 4 with everything inside parenthesis and do the same for 3(y+1) when you have all those terms put them on each side of the - sign. Then go through and find the terms that are alike, so everything with one x everything with 1 y and all terms that have no letter variable. Remember with the - sign everything you find with 3(y+1) will have an opposite sign.
