can someone tell me how to write the standard form of a linear equation when all i have is the coordinates (1,2)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Ax + By = C 1A + 3B = C maybe??

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a little more context might be useful ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need either two coordinates or one coordinate and the slope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zimmah i put the one coordinate up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, but you need either one more, or you need to know the slope. Otherwise there are infinitely many solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok well than (1,2) and (4,-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zimmah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, that works

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For 3 steps of x, your y decreases by 4

Can you write that part in formula form?
