Can someone briefly explain how mass and weight are related? Is weight directly or inversely proportional to mass?

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

Mass is a physical property. Weight is a force. mass 80kg weight 80kg \(\times\) 9.8m/s\(^2\) = 784N Your bathroom scale does not measure mass, it measures the force of your mass being accelerated on earths surface and converts that force to mass by dividing by 9.8

Thank you.

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

mass = m force F = ma mass goes up, force goes up. Directly proportional.

Thanks so much!
