well you can eliminate the middle choices as you would see a negative number of comets sighted have a look at the 1st and last choice.... is x = 1, the year is 1991 and there should be 75 comets.. which equation gives a number close to 75 when you substitute x = 1 and then check substitute x =2 which will be 1992 is the number of comets close to the number seen... hope this helps

ok... so you need look at the table for 1991 this means x = 1 and f(1) = 75 so for the 1st choice f(1) = 4.85*1 + 69.85 approx 75 4th choice f(1) = 4.85 * 1 + 21 approx 75 which gives the answer closest to 75..?

ok... so check it by selecting the year 1992 so x = 2 subsitute that, is the answer close to the actual number of sightings, 79..? if so, that would be my choice.
