GAIN A MEDAL. For each funtion, identify the horizontal translation of the parent function, f(x)= x^2 then graph the function ( please tell me what the graph would look like) y= (x-4)^2 y=(x+3)^2 y=(x+1)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so lets start with how you do this so it will be simple for future homework. anything inside the parenthesis is your x axis so left to right. So y = (x-9)^2+2 means its either going left or right by 9. and anything on the outside to the right of the equation is going up or down. so in the example equation I gave you above its either going up or down by two. With me so far?

the parent function is f(x) = (x)^2 which is a parabola and looks kind of like this: |dw:1383164230952:dw|
