In what direction and by how many units is the graph of f(x) = -7 sin(3x + π) - 2 vertically and horizontally shifted?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

id guess id be shifted -2 vertically and -pie/3 horizontally

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It wants me to be more specific >_< but if it's negative then it would be -2 left and pie/3 down?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

id be -2 as in down and -pie/3 as in to the left, and is that wat u mean by specific? id also supposed you get another opinion wat the answer should be, cause im not certain of my answer >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well it is one of the options and sounds right to me (: thank you for your help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as far as i can see this is a sin(theta) graph and the -7 sin (3x +pie) only stretches the sin graph but the -2 shiftes it in that direction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np! and as for the horizontal axis, i spit balled it and made x the subject of the formula and got [ sin^-1 ( f(x)+2/-7 ) ] - pie/3 and i think everything is stretching the curve except for -pie/3 which i guess shiftes it :)
