Welcome matheresa.  For part a of this problem, we find the initial speed would have been completely horizontal as it rolls off the edge of the pool.  The ball wouldn't be moving up or down at the beginning.

So we can use the fact that it struck 2.0 m away in a time of 0.30 s to find it's horizontal speed using:$$v = \frac{ \Delta x }{ \Delta t }$$
