Last trigonometry question.. need help explaining please
I almost got this one.. but I'm confused now!
First I'm doing YXW triangle, not sure if I should use tan, sin, or cos?
you want to find sides XY and XW , right ?
Yes
you have side OPPOSITE to 44 , right > so what will u use ?
Right, opposite is 5.27 then I have x for side XW, is that side adjacent?
lets first find hypotenuse XY which trigonometric function will u use ? you have opposite side...
Tan 44 = 5.27 / x
that will directly give you x= XW :)
x = 5.46?
yes!
now find XY can you ?
Oh okay, so now we have to make the triangle bigger to XYZ?
XY is just hypotenuse of XYW triangle!
so,, we need hypotenuse and side "opposite" to 44 degree angle sin 44 = .. ?
sin 44 = .6946
i mean in that triangle sin 44 = 5.27/XY got this ?
.6946 = 5.27 / XY okay got it! i'll work it out
I got XY = 7.59
correct! so can you find WZ now ?
Do I subtract 5.27 from 7.59? Because that is 2.32 and it's one of the answers :D
XY is radius = XZ XZ = XW +WZ so, XY = XW +WZ WZ = XY-XW = 7.59 - 5.46 you should also know how :)
and yes, 2.32 is correct :) ask if any doubt in any step :)
@hartnn You're like my second teacher!! Thank you again lol
welcome again ^_^ and i am just a student like you :)
