Just need to confirm if my grammar is correct for an introduction paragraph for an essay..

Throughout history, western culture has influenced many nations, two in particular were influenced greatly, the countries of China and Japan. The west influenced China and Japan in many ways, that affected their domestic and foreign affairs.

"Two nations" in the second sentence would be even more correct.

I think the "which are" is not needed in the first sentence , the second sentence, however, looks better now, thanks.
