WXYZ is a kite with the diagonals intersecting at V. WV = 16 and XV = 12. Find the measure of WX. Kite WXYZ with diagonals intersecting at V. XV = 12 WV = 16 A. 20 B. 28 C. 5.29 D. 10.58

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would think it would be 20?

OpenStudy (ranga):

Then you would be thinking right! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright thanks :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

May i ask another or should i post a new question? @ranga

OpenStudy (ranga):

Go ahead. Post one more here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the value of x, if angle X measures 102°. image of kite WXYZ with single hash marks on sides WX and WZ and double-hash marks on sides YX and YZ and arcs in corners X and Z; angle W is labeled 7 x plus 4 and angle Y is labeled 5 x minus 4 A. -4 B. 13 C. 95 D. 21.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any ideas?

@ranga

OpenStudy (ranga):

Angles X and Z are the same because of two similar triangles. And it is 102. All four interior angles of a quadrilateral adds to 360. Write the equation and solve for x.

OpenStudy (ranga):

Angle X = Angle Z = 102 Angle X + Angle W + Angle Z + Angle Y = 360 Substitute and solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Angle W and Angle Y = 78. @ranga

OpenStudy (ranga):

They just want you to solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would i do that? I found the angle measurements. Now what?

OpenStudy (ranga):

Angle X = Angle Z = 102 Angle X + Angle W + Angle Z + Angle Y = 360 Substitute: 102 + (7x + 4) + 102 + (5x - 4) = 360 12x + 204 = 360 12x = 156 x = 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh i see. Thanks :D

OpenStudy (ranga):

yw.

I will ask a few more in the new questions if you wish to help :P
