4. A line has a slope of 2 and passes through the point (4, 0). What are the coordinates of another point that is on the line? (2, 0) (0, 2) (4, 6) (6, 4)
slope=rise/run
so slope is 2/1
6,4
or use the formula f(x)-f(a)=k(x-a) k is slope a is x value and f(a) is y value then you get equation for line.
\(\large {slope=m=2\qquad \begin{array}{lllll} &x_1&y_1\\ &(4\quad ,&0) \end{array} \\\quad \\ y-y_1=m(x-x_1)}\) plug in your values in the "point-slope form" and solve for "y"
Just think since the slope is 2, every time you go one to the right of x, it jumps up 2 y values
\(\bf slope = m= \cfrac{rise}{run} \implies \cfrac{2}{1}\implies \cfrac{\textit{2 over the y-axis}}{\textit{1 over the x-axis}}\)
