why are solutions and suspensions considered to be mixtures?...

A mixture is a combination of substances which are not chemically joined together. A solution is a mixture in which other substances, or solutes, are dissolved. Like salt in water. And a suspension is a mixture of liquids with particles of a solid which may not dissolve in the liquid. Like sand in water.
