someone, anyone help me on this? Amount of the discount "y" for a 25% sale on an item with a regular price of "x" dollars. Equation: y=2.5x Question: What is the amount of discount on an item with a regular price of $50? Help me step this up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldn't the equation be : y = .25x ? Or is that the equation given ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is y = 2.5x the equation given, or did you make it up ?

OpenStudy (arbyj):

@kelliegirl33 thats what I got from the description, but I just realized I did it wrong so forget what I put. So help me set this problem up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the equation would be : y = .25x x being the regular price. So if the regular price is $50, sub 50 in for x and find y (the discount) y = .25(50) can you do this ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I set up the equation with .25 because I changed the 25% into a decimal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any questions ?

OpenStudy (arbyj):
