What could have happened if Operation Mincemeat had failed?
The Salerno invasion would not have occurred. The Battle of the Bulge would have resulted in a German victory. The Allies would not have been able to secure the beaches at Normandy. Americans at Pearl Harbor would have been forewarned about the attack.
Operation Mincemeat was done in 1943. The Battle of the Bulge happened much later in December of 1945. Normandy occurred in 1944. And Pearl Harbor occurred in 1941, before the operation and had nothing to do with it. So the only option that benefited from Mincemeat's deception plan was the Allied invasion of Italy in 1943. Mincemeat helped to trick the Germans on where the Allies were going to strike first. If they knew, if Mincemeat was not a success and the Germans saw right through it, then it's possible that the Salerno invasion would not have occurred.
