The U.S. was getting involved in another nation's affairs.. I think they wanted to be able to have access to the Chinese markets.. I did this assignment a looong time ago but most of the info is in the text.

Yeah I think on an interactive map it tells you the whole event that happened. You just need to add why it was intervention :)
