If a graph was drawn to represent the speed of a roller coaster over the distance of the ride, what would likely be the slope of the interval when the car pulling out of the gate after a new set of riders got on the roller coaster? zero positive negative undefined

What do you think the answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Zero?

Let's analyze your answer. If the slope is zero, then that would mean that the velocity is not increasing and not decreasing. Wouldn't you agree that as the ride takes off, the speed increases? So wouldn't you expect the slope to be positive?

Not when they're at a stop lol

The question (towards the end) asks specifically "after they pull out of the gate". Obviously there will be times when the speed/velocity decreases and the slope will decrease. I was answering based on what was asked in the stem of the question.
