• Change the following DNA strands into Messenger RNA* • Then read the new code three letters at a time. Give the correct amino acid names in order that would be found in that protein and from those codes unscramble the sentence. The amino acid names and the explanation of how to match up the new 1. TAC CTC CGC TCG TGT GGG TCC GAT TTT GGT ATG GAG. 2. TAC CTT CGG TAT CAA CGT AAG. 3. TAC CTC ACG ACC TTG. Word bank to break the code: GAG = is ACA = of CUC = be AAA = and AUG = science GCC = the GUU = to UGG = favorite UGC = my AUA = key GCA = the

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

i dont understand this anyone help @shrutipande9 @thomaster

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, we're going from DNA to RNA. First, we need to learn how the letters match up with one another. We need to learn the rules. When we're going from DNA to RNA.... A goes to U T goes to A G goes to C C goes to G Four rules. Right? Yes? Memorize them. -------------- Let's look at #1. The first DNA codon there is....(T A C). Now, use the four rules. If the DNA codon is (T A C).... then the RNA codon, that matches up, would be....(A U G). DNA codon -- (T A C) RNA codon -- (A U G) You get it?

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

UAC = will CCA = whatGCG = the AGC = knowledge CCC = what AGG = might CUA = be UUC = past AAC = subject GAA = is forgot this part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You forgot that part? Or do you mean to say that I forgot that part?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay never mind.

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

@InYourHead i understad that but as i go through the worksheet it ceases to match up withe the word bank

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It doesn't matter. That part is pretty straightforward. Remember the first one that I did for you, as an example? The answer was (A U G). (A U G) - science. So, the first word in sentence #1 is "science."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hold on. I'm gonna get a piece of paper and try to decipher the entire first sentence.

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

yes i know but if you continue it no longer matches any of the codes

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

@InYourHead i wrote all the things that match up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I see what you mean. I'm looking at sentence #1. The first word is "Science." The second word is "is." The third codon would transcribe to (G C G) But (G C G) doesn't match up to any words on the list. Is that what you mean?

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

yes

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

thats exactly what i mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have you double checked and triple checked, to make sure that every single letter. in the problems, was typed correctly?

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

yes i copy pasted it from the worksheet

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

http://www.blvs.org/gen/blvs_generated_bin/documents/basic_module/Transcription_Worksheet.pdf see if u can use this link

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just found (G C G). The word is "the." I didn't see it before, because it was right next to another codon, on the list. Hold on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Were you ever able to finish the first sentence?

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just did.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn't need to use the link that you posted. All the information here, on this post, is enough. Look carefully and try it again.

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

ok brb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll walk you through it if you want. We already know the first three words: "Science" "is" "the" Look at the fourth codon, in sentence #1. It's (T C G). What does (T C G) become?

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

UGC wich is my

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll list the four rules again: A goes to U T goes to A G goes to C C goes to G

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The DNA codon was (T C G). T goes to A. C goes to G. G goes to C. The RNA codon would be....(A G C)

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

UCG =UGC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No.

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

oh nvm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have you finished sentence #1?

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

science is the knowledge of what might be and what will be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's right/

OpenStudy (drakedoesmc):

thank you very much i fanned you and im giving u a medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome.
