(6.3 × 10^6) ÷ (7 × 10^3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rewrite it as 6.3*10^6/7*10^3 so we would subtract our common exponents

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(6.3/7)*(10^3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first we can write the significant figures with their zeros so, 6.3*10^6 means we move the decimal to the right, 6 number places and, 7*10^3 means we move the decimal to the right, 3 number places. then we can divide out the zeros from the top and bottom. so, we scratch out the 3 zeros on the top, and 3 zeros on the bottom, becuase there are the same number. \[ \frac{ 6,300,000 }{ 7,000 } = \frac{ 6,300 }{ 7 } = ?\]
