Thread I .... To start things off - I have designed a template. Please, fill it out, and do not post anything, besides the template resume, until I give the cue. This is to just get a general idea of what everyone wants. As a start - it has already been decided that in the private collaboration, we will have a whiteboard function. 1. What will the design look like. 2. Where will the private group be e.g., on OpenStudy, a different site, a full screen version, etc, etc, etc. 3. Any special functions or tools e.g., a paintbrush, an area for automatic shapes and figures on the whiteboard. 4. Should subscribers and only subscribers be able to use this function. 5. Any additional details or thoughts.
1. What will the design look like. Well, there can be a chatpod type thing on the perimeter of the whiteboard space. The whiteboard can be centered in the middle of the screen as well. There can be a host, or admin, of the room, and also, the members, or people that are in the room, are listed somewhere, or you can click somewhere to see who is there. 2. Where will the private group be e.g., on OpenStudy, a different site, a full screen version, etc, etc, etc. Near the "Find More Subjects" there can be a "Join StudyRoom" or some name there. Once you click it, it pops up with subjects and you can click on the general subject you want, and there can be a limit of how many Rooms can be open at a time, for instance, in the general subjects there can only be 20 rooms open at a time, or however many we decide. When you click a certain group, it pulls off to a little spot that tells you the people in it, and a spot where it tells you the number of people out of how many people can be in the certain room, so if there are 4 people in that room you want to join, it will say the names, and then have a 4/x, x being what we decide on how many people can be in there. It can pull into either another site, or another tab. Like one of those asset sites. 3. Any special functions or tools e.g., a paintbrush, an area for automatic shapes and figures on the whiteboard. On the whiteboard, there should be a spot for shapes, paintbrush, highlight, and a pencil type tool. Also, the ability to add text if your handwriting isn't all that great. 4. Should subscribers and only subscribers be able to use this function. If they pay, they will most likely not abuse it, I'm not saying they won't, but it's less likely to happen. Also, there should be the ability to invite unsubscribed users with the hosts approval. 5. Any additional details or thoughts. There should be the ability to invite unsubscribed users with the hosts approval. Also, subscribed users that want to create a room can click a button to contact an online moderator to let them. Also, one room can be opened by 1 person, that way a person doesn't take up more than one.
1. What will the design look like. I think it should just be a grey background, and a white screen. Other things like a list of people and a chat like Kfinns99 said would also be a nice addition but are not required. 2. Where will the private group be e.g., on OpenStudy, a different site, a full screen version, etc, etc, etc. I think it should be where the feedback button is, maybe above/below it? you click it and it opens as a separate window 3. Any special functions or tools e.g., a paintbrush, an area for automatic shapes and figures on the whiteboard. I would like a text tool for sure. A paint brush would also be nice. Another great addition would be a line tool, just the basics 4. Should subscribers and only subscribers be able to use this function. As a nonsubscriber I say no... 5. Any additional details or thoughts. None
1. What will the design look like. Keep it very "OpenStudy like" as in not changing the theme at all. Maybe putting the board to the left and all the members, hosts, administrators, etc. to the right. And a minimized chat like the ones currently used to save some space for the board. 2. Where will the private group be e.g., on OpenStudy, a different site, a full screen version, etc, etc, etc. It should be on this website and a easy access link near the 'Home' button or somewhere up there. And each individual user should have the option of making it full screen or not. 3. Any special functions or tools e.g., a paintbrush, an area for automatic shapes and figures on the whiteboard. The same tools here on OpenStudy, such as the Equation Editor, Drawing, and Attaching File, should be accessible on the board. 4. Should subscribers and only subscribers be able to use this function. Well, I guess if they are invited they shouldn't be. But overall it's a topic that should be discussed with the real moderators of this website since it's a different and very important topic. 5. Any additional details or thoughts. I agree with @Kfins99 about inviting an unsubscribed users. Other than that none.
1. What will the design look like. I think it should be a grey background and a white screen for the whiteboard. The "Undo" and "Clear Page" button should be at the top on a little menu. At the bottom, or on the side of the whiteboard, the tools would go there. 2. Where will the private group be e.g., on OpenStudy, a different site, a full screen version, etc, etc, etc. On OpenStudy so it shows it's a safe and trusted link for the users, and if a user wants to view full screen, they can. All they have to do is press a little "Full Screen" button (Optional of either an image or just the words "View Full Screen" to go full screen). 3. Any special functions or tools e.g., a paintbrush, an area for automatic shapes and figures on the whiteboard. I think that there should be tools for shapes with a transparent background, so it's just the shape outline. So let's say the user wants to find the radius of a circle, they can put up the circle and required details and ask for assistance upon that issue. I also think that there should be a "Pointer" tool where it shows the a little red dot or something to show where the other user is pointing. The user clicks the tool, clicks on the whiteboard to activate it, then you move it around to help point at where you are talking about. To deactivate it, you click the whiteboard once again. There should be something where you can input OR draw fractions and math equations. Drawing could be a bit harder to do for some people, so if possible add the inputs so it can input the fraction and make it editable.. Kind of like what OpenStudy has for the "Equation" button already, except it'd be on the whiteboard aswell. There definately should be a pen or pencil tool, something to for example.. show steps. Like cross out a number or to subtract from both sides, etc. There should be an "undo" and "Clear Page" buttons. There should be a chatbox with a microphone so you can, instead of typing it on the whiteboard, discuss it within' your collaboration partner or teacher. There should be a "Text" tool to input text on the whiteboard. There should be a "Report a Problem" button associated with this because it's new and it may or may not have problems. But to be safe, OpenStudy could have a "Report Problem" button and the user can report what the problem was so hopefully the developers can look into it and fix it. There should definately be a "Report Abuse" button, if not moderated. 4. Should subscribers and only subscribers be able to use this function. I think that there should be a feature upon this, the whiteboard is available to anyone.. However in order to chat via microphone, you must be a subscriber. Also, as a free user and not a subscriber, I think there should be timed sessions.. Meaning only 30 minutes can be one collaboration session every 2 hours or however long you want the thresehold to be. However, when you are a subscriber, you can be in a collaboration session for as long as you would like, also with the bonus of talking on the microphone. Also if a subscriber invites a non-subscriber the non-subscriber cannot speak, but the subscriber can. Also, if it's a non-subscriber with a subscriber, you can figure if you want it to be doubled the time or what for the collaboration session. 5. Any additional details or thoughts. Collaboration sessions (If possible) should be logged. If anything, the chatbox within' it to socialize with the partner should DEFINATELY be logged into the system/database under the users account or something.
These are all very good ideas. I will wait 24 hours before updating the next topic. @Skiller8860 wrote, ""Just thought of more subscriber ideas, we should make the chat and microphone subscriber features only on the collaboration system. Also, subscribers can get their own "Custom" pointer if wanted instead of just a red dot."" \(\huge{~Do~not~Reply~To~This~Message}\)

You go Comp! Design Task Force for Private rooms...
Ok, now before you get carried away - try for a minimal version before you design the one with all the bells and whistles. A low budget version. Would that be (a) whiteboard (b) audio (c) video (?) What if you got a couple of private study rooms for free when you subscribe - but have to pay for them other wise. How long should the private room be available? For ever? Who can delete it? The person who paid for it? OpenStudy? Can we have some rules. No cheating. No copyrighted material. No obscenity.
-(A) Whiteboard - If you subscribe, you should always be able to create a PrivateRoom - If you are subscribed, you should be able to be in the PrivateRoom for however long you want. If you are not subscribed, you should only be allowed a 30 minute time limit, no access to whiteboard. - A Moderator can delete the PrivateRoom whenever. But it should only happen if it is empty or if it is being used for bad purposes. Also, the person who hosts the PrivateRoom should also be able to get rid of the room and get rid of people if they are doing the wrong thing. Rules --- 1) No Cheating (Tests, Quizzes, etc.) 2) No copyrighted material, what-so-ever 3) No bad links or bad attitude (Perverted or dirty language will not be tolerated To be continued
Would that be (a) whiteboard (b) audio (c) video (?) A whiteboard. What if you got a couple of private study rooms for free when you subscribe - but have to pay for them other wise. I can agree with the subscriber part. I'm also suggesting still, that there should be a timer for non-subscribers, prefrably 30 minute sessions every.. 2 hours? Or something along those lines. When you're a subscriber however, you get a couple of private study rooms for free, along with no time limit of how long sessions are. How long should the private room be available? For ever? Who can delete it? The person who paid for it? OpenStudy? Can we have some rules. No cheating. No copyrighted material. No obscenity. The rules, I agree with. The private room for subscribers, as I've stated, should be for however long they want, once the session is closed out of, the session should automatically end.. Therefore making the private study room end as well. However if you're a non-subscriber it's 30 minutes every 2 hours or something along them lines.
Can I also be in this Task Force? @Preetha and @Compassionate
Yes MAthslover, certainly
Happy to hear that Preetha . Thanks! Will surely do everything possible!
Sorry, I didn't say anything! Welcome to the Task Force @mathslover Glad to have you helping!
Thanks Kfins ... I am also happy to be in the team and work with you all.
These are a lot of good ideas. I'll tally them and post the new thread tonight - that way things don't get jumbled up! As always, do not reply do this message. This is just a notification.
