how do I figure out which points are not on the graph in a function?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, check by plugin the x-coordinate value from the pair and see if you get the y-coordinate value, if not, is not on the graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if I have f(x)= -x^2 + 4 and i have 0,4 then I would plug the 0 in for x? f(x)=-0^2+4?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

if when x = 0, y = 4, then that point is ON THE LINE of \(\bf y = -x^2+4\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one more questions sorry - how would I know its on the line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what wouldn't?
