Given triangle ABC with A(-4,-2) B(4,4) C(18,-1), write the equation of the line containing the altitude that passes through B in standard form. Please explain step by step

@e.mccormick @e.cociuba @ranga @thomaster can someone help me asap??

OpenStudy (ranga):

The altitude line through B will be a line that passes through B and is perpendicular to AC. 1) Find the equation of line AC. Find its slope. 2) Perpendicular line to AC will have a slope that is negative reciprocal of the slope of line AC. Find the slope of the perpendicular line. 3) Knowing the slope and knowing that it passes through B, you can find the equation of the line.

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

ok thanks so much I will do it on my own from here. Thanks!!

OpenStudy (ranga):

you are welcome.

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

@ranga can you help me with one more please? just really fast like with the problem before but you dont need to draw it out.

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

use the same points as the last problem. write the equation of the line containing the perpendicular bisector that passes through C in slope intercept form.

OpenStudy (ranga):

perpendicular bisector of which segment. None of the perpendicular bisectors of the three sides of the triangle can pass thru C.
