Which of the following equations would graph a line parallel to 3x-y=7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plot both on paper and be done with it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ehuman I don't know how, that's why im asking for help...:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the graphs are parallel when they have the same gradient. so the trick is to put them in gradient form first. which is y= something form. so u need to move the y to the other side and 7 to the x side. that would give you y=3x+7. the gradient is the number in front of the x. but the thing is when the gradient is the same it should not have the same points either or the two graphs are identical in that case so y=3x+6 would be parallel where as y=3x+7 would be idientical to ur example.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be y=-3x+7 because that's one of the choices it gives me.? @maddux105

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no that would not be a parallel line its gotta have the same gradient so y=3x something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could it be just y=3x @maddux105

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jezz, this maddux guy can really type fast

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that would be a parallel line to the question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Luis_Rivera I know right:p great advice though!

@maddux105 Thank you so much.<333333
