3. Use the expression to answer the question. (7x2 4x + 5) (3x2 6x + 2) Which is equal to this expression? (Points : 3) 4x^2 - 10x + 7 4x2 + 2x + 3 4x^2 - 2x + 3 21x^2 - 10x + 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the problem : (7x^2 - 4x + 5) - (3x^2 - 6x + 2) 7x^2 -3x^2 - 4x - 6x + 5+ 2 4x^2 - 10x + 7 is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-(3x^2-6x+2) is equal to -3x^2 + 6x -2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it's: 7x^2 - 3x^2 -4x + 6x +5 -2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer would be 4x^2 + 2x + 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait why is it + 6x if it was -6x to begin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because the negative sign outside shifts the symbol of everything inside the parenthesis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-(-6x) = +6x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought it was set up like this: (7x^2 - 4x + 5) - (3x^2 - 6x + 2) (7x^2 - 3x^2) ((+)(5)) ((-)(4x)) (-) (6x) (+) (2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then: (4x^2) (-)(6x) (-) (4x) (+)(5) (+)(2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now: (4x^2) - (10x) + (7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i used the () to group the symbols with the numbers and variables so that when i carry them to switch i would have the same sign...
