Hi everyone, i have a trouble on writing a essay. The instructor assigned to read a story . He said we need to find the theme and the idea of the story, then provide textual evidence to support my thesis. How should i get started? I mean the structure, how does it look like??

Well, he says find the theme and idea (which should probably mean a sort of thesis or recurring value/idea of sorts). Textual evidence means you need to quote from the book and explain how that quote supports your thesis.
Since you mentioned thesis,and you're FINDING the them and idea, he probably wants you to write a 5 paragraph persuasive essay on what you think the theme and idea of the story are.
